Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The Grand Master of Mozambique has been received by the Grand Master of Minas Gerais (CMSB), MW Janir Adir Moreira. Ussumane Aly Dauto spoke with his Brazilian counterpart about the current state of Freemasonry in Mozambique and about the development program.
Grand Master Ussumane Aly Dauto received the Mario Behring Medal from his Brethren, one of the most important medals to be granted in Brazil.

Brussels, Belgium. In less than an hour will begin the annual reception given by the Secretary General of NATO for media representatives accredited to NATO. The event will take place in the Salon des ambassadeurs at the headquarters in Brussels.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen will hold a press conference followed by a reception offered to all international media representatives.

Paris, France. French President Sarkozy invited the Freemasons at the Elysee Palace yesterday. He has appeared before the French Masons to express his good wishes. The great absent of the meeting was Stifani, Grand Master of GLNF.
On the other hand, the presidential ceremony was boycotted by Arcizet, explaining that he prefers to stay away from all candidates of the presidential race this year, a fact supported by other officials of the Grand Orient of France. Arcizet wanted to clarify that Sarkozy did not organize such event in previous years.

Rome, Italy. After the scandal in which he was involved, Mario Monti, the Italian Prime Minister said that he is not a Freemason and that he does not know much about Freemasonry ("I do not know exactly what is Freemasonry"), despite the fact that he worked in Brussels, where the Order is officially recognized as an association.
Following Monti's statements, Grand Master Gustavo Raffi made an intervention in the daily Il Templo. "People of Freemasonry have built Italy. They must address us with respect," replied Raffi, outraged by Monti's statements.

Cuesta Valdés is one of the leaders of the "Abacuá" secret society and founder of a religios-syncretic society composed by the Babalawos, entitled "Organising Committee of the Letter of the Year". There were rumors that Cuesta Valdés Cuba leads a society (Abacuá) which follows castrist government guidelines. Also, there was fear that the election of Lázaro Cuesta Valdés could lead to the introduction of Afro-Cuban religious practices in the Masonic ritual.
Adalberto Concepción González (the new Lieutenant Grand Commander) was Chairman of the Committee of Foreign Relations of the Supreme Council of Cuba, in which was Lázaro Faustino Cuesta Valdés was also a member.
Cuba's Sovereign Grand Commander resigned
Havana, Cuba. Jesús Luciano Armada Pena, Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council of Cuba has resigned. Armada Pena would have resigned during the annual meeting of the Supreme Council of Cuba on 14 January 2012.
His reasons were the advanced age and a cardiovascular disease. Lázaro Cuesta Valdés is the new Sovereign Grand Commander of Cuba and Adalberto González Concepción the new Lieutenant Grand Commander. We remember that Jurnal Masonic published in its January 5, 2011 edition an information announcing that there is a possibility that Lázaro Cuesta Valdés could lead the Supreme Council of Cuba.

Lisbon, Portugal. "The new dimension taken by the Portuguese scandal affects the image of our Order", is the statement made this morning by APMR's Secretary-General. He expressed total disapproval of the petty intentions of those groups seeking specifically to destabilize the Portuguese Order.
The new revelations of the Portuguese central press highlight another Grand Lodge, recently founded and which is "supposed" to be more secret than others. By this time the Regular Grand Lodge of Portugal acted with a worthy Masonic conduct which is to be appreciated.

Xalapa, Mexico. The Grand Master of Veracruz believes that the crisis increased the number of youth who commit suicide. Dr Luis Alberto García Leyton, Grand Master of United Grand Lodge of Veracruz, said that "In Xalapa a young person commits suicide minimum once a week."
This is the result of a serious study realized with his students and that the press refused to publish it. Students of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Veracruz have conducted this study under the guidance of Dr. García Leyton.

The U.S. government refuses to allow the Grand Master of Cuba to enter the United States
Havana, Cuba. Regular Freemasonry in Cuba enters in the attention of the media after the Grand Lodge of Cuba's leaders have not received a visa to enter the United States where they were invited by the Grand Lodge of Florida.
In an article by José A. Pérez Gallo, this morning, it shows that the Grand Master (José Ramón González Díaz) and the Grand Secretary (William Rojas Aguiar) of the Grand Lodge of Cuba have not received a visa required to enter the United States. They were outraged by the decision of U.S. officials, not understanding why they are not allowed to enter Florida.
This event comes amid the scandal in March 2011 when the Security of the Communist Party in Havana recognized that Past Grand Master Collera Vento is an undercover agent and has been used to drive this Grand Lodge under the orders of Castro's government.
